Of all the enemies that Peter Parker and Miles Morales face in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, few are as terrifying and relentless as Venom. Powered by an extraterrestrial symbiote, the villain threatens all of Marvel’s New York over the course of the game and pushes the Spider-Men to the very limit. The fight with Venom is especially personal for Peter, both through his own experiences with the symbiote and whom the symbiote has since bonded with, delivering his greatest challenge as a hero.
Fired for abandoning the class, Peter returns to his Aunt May’s home in Queens–which he has moved into following her death[b]–to meet with Mary Jane. They are surprised by Harry, who has miraculously recovered from his terminal illness. Harry hires Peter to work at his environmental technology startup, the Emily-May Foundation (named after Aunt May and Harry’s mother Emily), so they can pursue his dream of “healing the world”. While overseeing a prison transfer with Peter at The Raft, a vengeful Miles fails to stop the Hunters from capturing Martin Li, who previously killed his father, Jefferson Davis.

After AF88 -scale prologue that immediately grabs attention, the plot focuses on the confrontation with the antagonist Kraven the Hunter, who wants to eliminate all superheroes and supervillains. As the struggle with him unfolds, the narrative shifts its focus to Norman Osborn and his son Harry, who suffers from a mysterious illness. The city’s loading has been accelerated, and now you can switch between heroes in the app or teleport quickly in just a couple of seconds.
Peter tracks the Lizard through the sewers of New York, fights the monstrous beast, and learns of the true nature of his new Black Suit. Peter and Miles pursue the Lizard as the hunters simultaneously attempt to capture their greatest prey yet. With the location of Curt Connors secured, MJ infiltrates the hunter base in an attempt to free him, as Harry and Peter desperately attempt to buy them time.

I had a lot of fun using this before landing a sharp burst of Miles’ Venom lightning onto grouped-up goons, and now Peter can get in on that fun as well. They’re just as enjoyable, as it feels like the suit is trying to burst out of the rumbling DualSense controller in my hands. This aggressive style of play is rewarded, as the only way to heal is by building up your focus bar – filled by landing hits and timing perfect dodges – and is another way to make sure that exciting rhythm of combat is never lost. Overall, there’s slightly less emphasis on stealth encounters this time than in either Spider-Man or Miles Morales. As someone who found the stealth action of the previous games a little simplistic and routine, this new, louder approach is welcome. On the whole it’s a tried and true set-up for a Spider-Man story—the perils of leading a double life, making sacrifices to do the right thing, all that jazz.
Head to the Eastern side of the building and get to the top of the yellow-netted scaffolding to find the Spider-Bot. To reach it, you’ll have to go to the rooftop of the thin and wide building just North of the indoor stadium to the South of the Spider-Bot.
